Booking the hall is the smallest part of it. A prayer meeting has a shape, and every part of that shape is something a grieving family would otherwise have to source separately in two days.
Seating and stage. Chairs laid out for the expected count, a raised platform for the framed photograph, and a separate row kept for the immediate family.
Photograph, garland and flowers. The portrait framed and garlanded, the stage dressed, and floral arrangements kept restrained rather than festive - which is a distinction decorators do not always understand.
Pandit, granthi or priest. Recitation of the Garuda Purana, Gita path, Sukhmani Sahib path, or a Christian order of service, depending on the family. We coordinate the timings so the reading finishes when the guests are seated.
Sound. Microphones for the readings and for family members who wish to speak, at a level that carries to the back row without turning the hall into an event.
Water, tea and prasad. Served after the prayers, in the quantity the guest count needs.
Parking and reception. Someone at the entrance to direct guests, and parking handled so arrivals are not circling the block.
How to Choose the Right Venue
Start from where the guests are coming from, not from where the family lives. If most attendees are travelling from South Delhi, a hall in Lodhi Road or Chhatarpur will be filled; the same event in Gurugram will not.
Size up, not down. Prayer meetings draw people the family has never met. A hall seating 250 for an expected 200 guests will feel crowded within twenty minutes.
Check the parking honestly. Every venue says parking is available. What matters is how many cars, and whether guests will be walking ten minutes in the sun.
Confirm the hours. Most halls are booked in blocks. If the reading runs long or guests keep arriving, an overrun can cost more than the booking did.
Match the venue to the faith. A mandir prayer hall, a gurudwara, an auditorium and a club room are not interchangeable. We will say plainly which is appropriate rather than booking whatever is free.
How the Booking Works
One call, and we take it from there. You tell us the date, the expected guest count and the area; we check availability, quote the full figure including hall, decor, pandit and refreshments, and confirm once you agree. Nothing is added to the bill afterwards.
The prayer meeting usually follows the cremation by three or four days, so we are often arranging it while the family is still completing the death certificate and the paperwork. Handing both to one team is the point - see what chautha, uthala and terahvin actually involve if the family is unsure which ceremony is being planned.
If you would rather use a hall we have not listed - a society community centre, a gurudwara your family has always used, a farmhouse - we will work with that venue instead. The list above is a starting point, not a limit.

How far in advance should a prayer meeting venue be booked?
Most families book two to four days ahead, because the prayer meeting usually falls on the chautha - the fourth day after the cremation. Halls in Lodhi Road and Vasant Vihar fill fastest, so tell us the date as soon as it is decided and we will hold a slot the same day.
How many people should the hall seat?
Count the family, then add roughly half again for colleagues and neighbours who come without telling anyone. For most Delhi NCR families that lands between 250 and 400 seats. It is better to have a hall a little too large than to have guests standing at the door.
What does a prayer meeting venue booking include?
The hall for the booked hours, seating, a stage or platform for the photograph, sound and microphones, and cleaning before and after. We separately arrange the pandit or granthi, the flower decor, the framed photograph and garland, drinking water and prasad, and parking assistance.
